About Gruha Jyothi Scheme
The “Gruha Jyothi Scheme” is a zero-electricity bill scheme designed by Government of Karnataka for the welfare of the residents by offering free power supply to them. Under this scheme the government provides an additional 10 units of electricity to the households consuming electricity below 90 units on their average consumption as against the previous rule of a 10% increase. By offering this scheme, the government aims to reduce electricity costs by providing free electricity for up to 200 units to every residential household in the state. Under this scheme the government supports a total of 1.62 crore families that consume less than 200 power units per month on average over the past years in the state. Under this schema about 1.95 crore people in this state use about 53 units of power. With the help of this free electricity every resident across the state is able to save about Rs 1000 per month.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Gruha Jyothi Scheme, applicant must have to meet the following eligibility criterias these are as follows:-
- Applicants must be a permanent president of Karnataka.
- Applicants must only have domestic/resident household connections.
- Applicants can only get the benefits even when the meter is in the house owner’s name.
- Applicants must have their own Aadhar card linked with the account / consumer ID of the electricity bill.
