To boost scientific interest among school children, the State Government of Maharashtra has introduced a new scientific exploration project, known as the Maharashtra Vidyarthi Vigyan Vari Scheme, which sponsors 51 students annually to visit NASA. Under the scheme, students of the top 21 projects from the tahsil Level competition will visit a science centre in their division, and those with the top 51 projects from the district level competition will get a trip to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) headquarters in Bengaluru. In contrast, 51 state-level finalists will be taken to NASA under the Chief Minister Vidyarthi Vigyan Scheme.
